I am excited to be elected president of Agriculture in the Classroom-Manitoba (AITC-M) at the April 20, 2010 Annual General Meeting. I would like to thank Scott Van Alstyne for 5 years of dedication and great leadership. Scott remains on the executive and board in the newly formed position of Past President. This position will be extremely valuable for a consistent transition from year to year. AITC-M’s 2010 executive consists of Vice President - Trish Jordan, Secretary - Brian Kenyon and Treasurer - Derek Read.
The year ahead will continue to be a time of growth for the organization. Each year, AITC-M has experienced significant growth. We have grown with members, volunteers and in our valuable programming. This enables AITC-M to reach more students and teachers and also ensures increased partnerships to produce top quality, useful educational programming on agriculture.
Over the next year, the AITC-M board will update its strategic plan, look to new partners for new ventures and continue to connect students and teachers with agriculture. This board is committed to developing stronger measurements for all AITC-M programs and resources.
If you have not had the opportunity to volunteer for AITC-M events, I invite you to do so and experience being a part of a positive, uplifting and proud initiative to cultivate an interest in agriculture! We need the faces of agriculture to share the stories, passions and excitement of this dynamic industry. Sign up to volunteer today at http://www.aitc.mb.ca/Volunteers.htm
I look forward to working with the board, staff and all AITC-M members. Don’t hesitate to get in touch; we would be happy to hear from you! It will be another great year.
Sincerely,
Ellen Pruden
